Title: Lean Build Documentation
Presentation
Abstract :

Paperless-Getting the Information Off the Page

The COM DEV Switch Product group manufactures switches which route signals to
the appropriate piece of equipment on a satellite. The production environment is
low volume, high mix, design to order; manufactured in a clean room environment.
Qualification and traceability requirements for space applications require strict control
of documentation, material and process data. Performance is often pushed to the limits
in order to meet stringent customer requirements often causing rework and redesign
during production. This presentation will review the initial problem which initiated the
design of the paperless system, and more importantly the features and benefits that
have seen close to $300,000 in annual cost savings.
