EAMONN PERCY

According to the 2006 CME Management Issues Survey, 73% of companies surveyed indicated “backsliding to the old ways to doing things” as the number one obstacle to effective lean implementation. In actual fact, almost all (7) of the top 10 obstacles to effective implementation were related to sustaining a lean culture and change management.

Unfortunately, many companies ignore the cultural change management aspect of lean when embarking on their own lean initiative. After some initial successes, usually associated with quick wins and early training, the momentum for success starts to fade. The most successful lean implementation initiatives run two parallel initiatives – tactical lean implementation and lean cultural change.

In this presentation, Mr. Eamonn Percy, will highlight the key success factors associated with building and sustaining effective leadership and cultural changes in a lean environment. He will draw upon examples in his more that 20 years of lean leadership experience from traditional automotive environment, to technology commercialization in the high tech environment. He will include a cultural lessons learned from the dramatic turnaround of Pirelli Cables (Surrey Plant), which consistently achieved double digit performance improvement to became one of the most productive fibre optic manufacturing facilities at that time.

The presentation will bring the concept of leading and sustaining change to practical reality. It will be focused on the specific tactical measures that can be applied in virtually any situation. It will discuss the key principles of sustaining change and how they can be learned, practiced and implemented. Individual participants will learn the dos and don’ts of effective change leadership, the keys to effective communications, principles of effective influence and the top 10 ways to sustain a lean transformation.
