CGL’s Health and Safety Success Story

CGL’s Health and Safety Success Story: CGL Manufacturing was recently awarded the IAPA Level II Achievement Award. This Guelph, Ontario manufacturer of steel component parts for the off-road and heavy construction industries also just marked its three and a half year anniversary with no lost time injuries. This session will give you some insight into the five year journey that culminated in these achievements. Hear how CGL went from a WSIB surcharge position to an 85% Workwell grade with substantial WSIB rebates.

Rhonda Gordon, Human Resources Manager

Rhonda Gordon has been the HR Manager at CGL for the last 5 years. Rhonda has the following credentials: HRPAO Professional Designation; MBA from Wilfred Laurier University; Honours Business Administration degree, majoring in Human Resources Management, from Brock University.

Rhonda has worked as a Human Resources Manager for the last 15 years; 5 years at retail giant, Woolworth Canada in Toronto; almost 5 years at Westmount Golf and Country Club in Kitchener; 5 years at CGL Manufacturing (therefore a strong background in both the service and manufacturing industries). As well, she owned and operated her own Human Resources Training and Consulting business for a number of years.

Rhonda has focused her attention on all areas of Human Resources Management including: recruitment and selection; training and development; employment law; performance coaching and discipline; payroll; compensation; benefits; health and safety; etc.

Rhonda also teaches a variety of human resources courses at both the college and university levels as she has done for the last eight years.
