Abstract :
This presentation will explore the lean thinking used to identify problems and develop solutions to the many challenges Kudu has faced over the years. The focus is on the five value streams at Kudu which include Downhole tools, Rotors, Stators, Driveheads, and Powerunits. The results of lean thinking in each of the five value streams, and how the principles and tools were used to identify problems and develop solutions, will be highlighted. An emphasis will also be placed on Kudu’s current culture and how we are shaping the future.

Since then the Company has expanded throughout Western Canada and into the USA, with distributors in Venezuela, Columbia, Russia, offices in Australia, Kazakhstan and installations around the world. The National Research Council of Canada recognizes Kudu Industries Inc. as a world class manufacturer of oilfield equipment and has awarded Kudu with the Innovation Insights Award for manufacturing practices. Biography:

Vaughan L. Lacharite, Senior Lean Champion

Vaughan Lacharite joined Kudu in the shipping department in 2003. In 2004 he assumed the responsibility of assistant production manager. In 2005 his role as assistant production manager was eliminated and a position was created for him as part of the Lean team. The Lean team has been responsible for igniting the lean fire at Kudu once again. Vaughan has a B.A., and is Lean Bronze-level certified. Prior to joining Kudu he was a teacher, and an operations manager.
