Abstract :

One of our manufacturing facilities was financially in-trouble. The goal: Stop the financial bleeding and prepare the plant for closing. Joe will discuss how Lean Manufacturing techniques opposed to traditional fiscal amputation practices transformed a plant’s death notice to a “return-to-sender” notice back to the Leadership team with a message: “…you can’t afford to shut me down!”

Joe Schmidt has a BSME from Michigan Technological University

Joe has 25 Years of Experience in the Automotive Industry as both and OEM and Supplier. His experience has centered around supporting and leading Operations teams in mostly Start-up and Turn-Around conditions.

Joe is the Director of Continuous Improvement for Rieter Automotive. He is responsibility for the development and implementation of the Rieter Production System in the 8 Rieter North American facilities.
