Organizations are challenged everyday to find different ways to increase the bottom line by improving product quality, cost and delivery through traditional ways. In this struggle, many companies overlook the huge potential of savings waiting to be harvested outside the organization – at the suppliers. Supplier Development provides this opportunity to add to the bottom line while improving supplier relationship.

This supplier development presentation will lead you through a road map to a robust supplier development process. It will help you understand the difference between supplier improvement and supplier development. It will take you through step by step in detail from socializing the idea to the sustaining the improvements and the savings. This presentation will address issues such as how to identify suppliers, resources and risk. It will address outsourcing issues in low cost manufacturing countries and address language and cultural aspect of the supplier development. This presentation will expose you to the tools pack such as supplier assessment and lean manufacturing.

The presenter will also share with you how one company uses the supplier development process using an overall business assessment to guide the application of lean and six sigma tools to set its suppliers on a path to premier.

Kalim Saiyed, Manager, Supplier Development

Kalim Saiyed has over 25 years of quality, engineering and supply chain development experience. He is Manager of Supplier Development with Bell Helicopter Textron in Ft. Worth, Texas.

Kalim was previously associated with Mercury Marine a division of Brunswick Corporation, Deere & Co. - Consumer and Commercial Division, Black and Decker and Wynn’s Climate Systems – a supplier to Mazda Motor Company.

Kalim is a graduate of SE Oklahoma State University and an auditor with Registrar Accreditation Board. He is also a certified Green Belt. Kalim has extensive domestic and international experience in supplier development programs.

Kalim is well traveled and completed ex –pat assignment in Chihuahua Mexico and Suzhou, China.
