Lean Fundamentals for Management – The Critical Understandings and Skills Necessary for Success.
What the President and Senior Management Must Know to Launch a “Lean” Initiative in Their Company.

Workshop Description:

This Introduction to Lean is targeted at company owners, presidents, senior managers, Lean process champions, supervisors and other leaders who are in the early stages of their Lean journey. It addresses the fundamental questions as to why should we adopt Lean and if we do what should we expect. The ½ day workshop focuses on:

  • Understanding the 5 key principles of Lean and how they may be applied in your organization. Many applications of these principles are counterintuitive to their prior leadership roles and experience.
  • The importance of building a culture of empowerment and what this means. The adoption of a new paradigm for many supervisors at all levels in an organization and their team of associates.
  • Building on values and using vision to enable your team to achieve great things. This is an essential attribute to become World Class.
  • Providing an overview of key Lean tools that the team will employ when empowered.
  • What it takes to harness the genius within our associates in our organizations, which is absolutely critical for success.
  • Developing a Lean strategy for our organization. An often overlooked necessity – it helps people understand the nature of the commitment and the journey.
  • What should the expectations be?

Lean is more than a set of tools and techniques. It is a component of your company’s overall strategy. During the session some important competitive questions will be addressed such as:

  • How do I improve my on-time delivery performance?
  • How can I increase my capacity without major capital investment?
  • How do I find that hidden treasure of cash buried in my operation?
  • Is there a simple way to improve our product quality and the safety of our operation?
Specific Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this interactive simulation, participants will learn:

  • To understand the key elements of the Lean philosophy to better manage their organizations.
  • (Help leaders) to understand the impact of culture and the culture shift necessary to implement and sustain Lean.
(This is probably the single greatest impediment to successful Lean implementation and why so many initiatives fail. And, most leaders don’t even know why.)
