“Assessing the opportunities to reduce waste within a company”

Workshop Description:

In this workshop fictitious ACME Industries will be used as an example for Lean Assessment based on real examples. A step-by-step approach is applied using Lean Tools to identify waste. Information is gathered as the “ Current State” of operations. This includes “ Current State” process mapping and flow of materials and information, materials handling and storage, and labor distribution.

Analysis of the “ Current State” is performed and also an open-minded approach is taken from the analyses to determine a potential realistic “Future State Layout”. This workshop will also include an “Opportunities List “ which is compiled in a chart form based on Lean. In this workshop you will also see an executive report summarizes the results.

Upon completion of this interactive simulation, participants will learn:

A successful Lean Assessment will provide the “Corporate Vision” and the “Corporate Roadmap and Focus” required to advance and change a company to be a benchmark in its industry. For best advantage, the lean assessment should precede a “Lean Program Implementation” but can be used as a tool at any time in a “Lean Program”

 You will learn the ABC’s of how to plan and execute a successful Lean Assessment.

Biography:

Gerry Doran

Gerry specializes in project management and opportunities assessment. Gerry has over 35 years of comprehensive and diverse engineering experience implementing change. Gerry is adept at finding and realizing opportunities for customers with an annualized savings in excess of $20 million. He has designed, installed and commissioned five major plants in Canada and Australia.

erry has a passion for Lean and communicates Lean to customers in all his projects. He has a “hands on” approach to problem solving with strong interpersonal skills and is a high energy motivator for building teams. His desire is to help the customer sustain goals and reach higher with employees and management.

Mark Allan  

Mark is a Professional Industrial Engineer and Project Management Professional who specializes in the design, implementation, and project management of process improvement projects in aero space, satellite communications, oil and gas, and robotics resulting in sustained savings. 

ark has more than 10 years experience designing and developing lean processes in all areas of manufacturing from requests for quotation through to delivery of product.  This includes the planning, analysis and control of all aspects of production.  Past implementations have withstood the test of time and are currently in use, producing expected results with continued savings.

  Stephen Gladwin 

Stephen is an Industrial Engineer who has completed five Lean Assessments over the past two years for various manufacturing and processing facilities from electronics, food, oil and gas, clothing, maintenance and warehousing. Stephen’s interests include propagating Lean principles through business operations in any industry and into every aspect of daily life.
